The 2012 Air Force Assistance Fund (AFAF) campaign kicks off Monday, Feb. 6 (dates for individual bases vary) and will run through May 4. Each base in our command will offer you an opportunity to contribute to the AFAF. Unlike other charitable campaigns, the AFAF is run by Airmen, for the benefit of Airmen, Air Force retirees, and their families.
The AFAF administers four different charities:
The Air Force Assistance Fund has reached $25,885 in its push to goal of $77,300 or 33.46 percent.
Sarah Hanych, of the Airman and Family Readiness Center, who assists 1st Lt. Nathan Greiner, installation AFAF project officer, said, "The goal is to have half of all active duty participate and to reach $77,300."
She said that if the base meets its goal, an additional $2,500 would be distributed to the base as community enhancement.
