The U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Salt Lake Chamber, Davis Chamber, and Ogden/Weber Chamber are partnering with the Utah Department of Workforce Services and the Utah Veterans and Military Employment Coalition to help veterans, guardsmen, reservists and their spouses find meaningful employment. Upcoming events include the following:



Phase 3 of clinic parking lot work to commence Oct. 20

Phase 3 of the effort to repave the clinic parking lot is scheduled Oct. 20 through Nov. 5, weather permitting. On approximately Oct. 20, the parking area southeast of and far from Building 570 and the main driveway, will be closed for repaving. Traffic will be detoured to other parking areas. Accessibility and crosswalks will be maintained as deemed safe around construction equipment. Motorists will not be able to travel where posted or deemed unsafe due to construction. Phase 3 will not start until Phase 2 is complete.

Accessibility and crosswalks will be maintained as deemed safe around construction equipment. Motorists will not be able to travel where posted or deemed unsafe due to construction. Phase 2 will not start until the first phase is complete.



Protestant Women's Bible studies to start

Come join the Protestant Women of the Chapel (PWOC) for their fall kick-off on Sept. 13, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in the chapel annex. Their theme this year is "Your Kingdom Come" and the group will be offering two different Bible studies this fall.

Wee Joy is available for children ages 6 month to 5 years old and there is an unmonitored classroom for homeschoolers.



Base Theater parking closed for work

The parking lot and street will be closed near Buildings 441 (Base Theater) and 442 (Wells Fargo Bank) will close Sept. 6-16. The north parking lot including Community Lane between Loncki (7th Street) and 6th Street will be closed to replace the asphalt and to restripe the parking lot.

All theater and bank patrons are used to use adjacent parking lots in the immediate area. Wells Fargo customers will be able to access the facility on Loncki Street off of "E" Street or Community Lane from the south off of 8th Street.



Lane reductions near South Gate

There will be lane reductions: Southgate Drive, north- and southbound bound lanes from State Highway 193 intersection to 6th Street on Sept. 17, weather permitting. If there is a need to reschedule the alternate date proposed is Sept. 24.

Resurfacing and striping several sections of the roadway will be done on a Saturday to minimize interruptions to motorists entering the installation through the South Gate.



Clinic parking lot to be repaved

The 75th Civil Engineer Squadron has contracted a paving project to repave the Clinic Parking Lots in five phases (South of Balmer Street).

Phase 1 of this effort is scheduled Sept. 15-26, weather permitting. On approximately Sept. 15, the clinic parking area northeast of Building 570, will be closed for repaving. Traffic will be detoured to other parking areas. Accessibility and crosswalks will be maintained as deemed safe around construction equipment. Motorists will not be able to travel where posted or deemed unsafe due to construction.



Road closed Sunday, Sept. 11, to fix leak

There will be a road closure at 6th Street at "D" Avenue on Sunday, Sept. 11 from 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. to repair an underground leak in the middle of 6th Street.

"D" Avenue going north will be closed at the same time to make repairs on the same underground line.

All traffic will be detoured around these areas.



WWII Candy Bomber to speak at chapel

The Air Force's Berlin Candy Bomber, Gail Halvorsen, is giving a fireside chat on Sept. 10 at 7 p.m. at Hill's Base Chapel. Halvorsen will mingle with visitors afterwards with refreshments provided and there will be opportunities for autographs and pictures. Anyone with base access is invited to attend. 75th wives group to hold garage sale

A fundraiser is being held to raise money through a garage sale. Donations are being accepted from any contributors and can be dropped off through Friday, Sept. 9.

Clothes, furniture and other items that are collecting dust, taking up space or are no longer needed are asked for to support a good cause.

The event will be Saturday, Sept. 10, 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. at 2237 N. 125 West in Layton.
