Exceptional construction program expands Base Chapel space

Construction scenes seem to be the norm recently at Hill Air Force Base due to funding from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, more commonly known as President Barack Obama's stimulus plan. However, for the Base Chapel, seeing construction on its buildings is a rare and welcomed change.

419th maintainers support Afghan elections

A small group of maintainers from the 419th Fighter Wing helped make history when they readied F-16 aircraft for missions in support of the Afghan presidential election Aug. 20."I worked on the flightline for 12 hours straight on the day of the election and we were very busy," said Senior Airman Dallin Smith. "Later, we watched the world news and saw coverage of the (events) that our jets participated in. It was great knowing we were contributing to such an important mission and our efforts were visible around the world."

Women's, Children's hospital departments restrict access to help lower risks of H1N1 flu

Because of their strong commitment to patient safety and a high level of commitment to the health of their patients, Davis Hospital and Medical Center, McKay-Dee Hospital and Medical Center, and Ogden Regional Medical Center have decided to restrict access to the hospitals respective Women's and Children's departments, beginning today. Data suggests that the action will reduce the risk of spreading H1N1 flu to some of the community's most vulnerable populations, pregnant women and infants.


CFC expo to kick off fundraising Oct. 7

The Team Hill Combined Federal Campaign for 2009 is set to kick off here with a charity exposition Oct. 7 at the Hill Aerospace Museum from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. The event will begin with a brief proclamation ceremony and conclude with a drawing for the door prize, a 42-inch plasma screen TV. Team Hill employees are invited to attend with up to 90 minutes of release time granted, as mission permits, and bus transportation to and from the museum will be available.

Predator passes 600,000 flight hours

CREECH AIR FORCE BASE, Nev. -- Airmen of the 432nd Air Expeditionary Wing here surpassed the 600,000 flight hour mark in the MQ-1 Predator unmanned aircraft system Sept. 4.The Predator fleet passed 250,000 hours in June 2007, after 12 years of flying, and it only took a year and eight months for the aircraft to fly an additional 250,000 hours to reach 500,000 flying hours in February 2009.Due to the continuous demand for the aircraft by combatant commanders, the Predator reached 600,000 flying hours seven months later.

Fit Factor and Day of Play at the Youth Center

The Youth Center opened its doors recently to all Team Hill families and their kids to come and play.The Kick Off for Family Fit Factor and Nickelodeon Day of Play held a myriad of activities within a few short hours such as cooking a healthy meal together as a family, including vegetables and tacos with low-fat cheese. Other activities included arts and crafts, water balloon fights, an obstacle course, bouncy castle, sign ups for the Youth Fit Factor program and prizes given out for participation in the Fit Factor program last year.

Taking precautions during the flu season

Flu season is approaching fast this year and many are worried about the seasonal influenza and the H1N1 virus. With the help of vaccinations and simple steps taken by individuals, these viruses can be avoided.

This year, individuals are encouraged to get the seasonal influenza and H1N1 virus vaccinations. According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the seasonal influenza vaccine is not expected to protect against the H1N1 virus so both vaccinations are encouraged.
