OGDEN -- The Women in Business Committee of the Ogden Weber Chamber of Commerce has announced that its 8th annual Women's Leadership Conference will be held Oct. 25 at the Shepherd Union Building, Weber State University.
The mission of the Women's Leadership Conference is to raise awareness of the Women in Business Committee's annual Athena Award, which honors individuals in the community who have demonstrated excellence in their profession, have improved the quality of life for others in the community, and who actively assist women in realizing their full leadership potential.
This year's half-day Women's Leadership Conference features a variety of speakers, including Amanda Dickson, co-host of "Utah's Morning News with Grant and Amanda" on KSL Newsradio, Maj.Abigail Ruscetta, Commander of the 388th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron at Hill Air Force Base, and Barbara Matthews, founder of Wasatch Woman Magazine.
Rebecca Macias, Past President of the Women in Business Committee and planning chair of the Leadership Conference, hopes that in addition to attracting area business women, the Conference will attract students, as well as employees and service members from Hill Air Force Base.
"We call the event 'Women Empowered: A Leadership Journey,' recognizing that leadership skills are developed over a lifetime, whether through the conversations you have with your kids in the car, to the meetings you lead in the boardroom, we are always learning and growing," said Macias. The Oct. 25th conference runs from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., with a luncheon-only option. A complete conference agenda and registration information can be found at the Ogden Weber Chamber of Commerce website, www.ogdenweberchamber.com.
