Officials from Hill Air Force Base and Sunset Ridge Development Partners LLC hosted a ribbon cutting and groundbreaking ceremony Jan. 18.
The event celebrated the completion of a brand new building for the 75th Security Forces Squadron and the ceremonial groundbreaking of a new commercial office building that will be built on the base's west side.
"This ribbon cutting and ground breaking event signifies the bright future in store for Hill Air Force Base," said Col. Sarah Zabel, 75th Air Base Wing commander. "The continuation of the Falcon Hill project benefits the base and the communities outside the gate by stimulating growth in northern Utah."
The new 35,000 square-foot security forces building is part of the base's Falcon Hill project, which aims to bring revitalized infrastructure to Hill AFB including new buildings, roads and utilities.
Falcon Hill will also provide modern facilities for nearly six thousand base employees and improve mission effectiveness by bringing organizations together in one facility.
The project is the first major enhanced use lease in Air Force history and also the first to use a purely commercial model. Falcon Hill will bring growth and jobs to Hill AFB and the neighboring communities.
"The Falcon Hill project is the flagship project of the Air Force Enhanced Use Lease program," said Robert Moore, Air Force Real Property Agency director. "It is a great example of the power of the EUL program and the benefits it brings the installation, the community and the Air Force.
"The AFRPA team is exceptionally proud to be a part of this remarkable achievement, and we salute the Hill team for its vision and perseverance in bringing the project to life."
