Although there have been many firework-restrictions across the Wasatch Front this season, local communities celebrated Independence Day and plan Pioneer Day celebrations with large firework displays on July 24. The month of July will be full of activities for residents to enjoy from breakfasts in several parks, 5K runs, parades galore, concerts and carnivals and as the sun sets on the last barbecue of the day firework events will fill the night skies.

  • New this year, on July 20, is Bountiful City's Handcart Day at Bountiful City Park, located at 400 N. 200 West. The celebration will begin at noon with games, rides, food and entertainment, with a parade beginning at 6 p.m. More than 2,000 young men from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Utah will be dressed in costumes, to tell the story of young stripling warriors described in the Book of Mormon. The entry has been in the planning stages for 10 years. Organizers say an entry of this magnitude will likely not occur again. The parade route will run up Main Street beginning at 1500 South and ending at another location at Bountiful City Park. The park will continue with activities on Saturday, July 21, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fireworks will begin at dusk that evening at Mueller Park Junior High School, located at 955 Mueller Park Road.
  • City celebrates Roy Days on July 28 through Aug. 3 and 4, which is an annual city-wide celebration. Super Friday and Saturday is a two-day event, the last two days of Roy Days, at George Wahlen North Park in Roy.

Festivities include a carnival, live entertainment and demonstrations on the central stage, over 100 vendors selling great food, crafts, gifts and other products and a salmon bake Friday night sponsored by the Kiwanas Club. Tickets for the salmon bake are $10 per person and are available at the Roy City offices, Roy Harmons and Roy Kent's Market. Bounce houses will be available for younger children and there will be a stomp for teenagers from 8:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. on the tennis courts; please contact Mandy Koford at 801-391-6102 for additional information. A car show will be held on the west side of the park; please call Louse Eames at 801-773-8438 for more information. There will also be 3-on-3 basketball tournaments; please call Brock Randell at 801-710-5836 for more information.
