A new commander will take charge of the 75th Air Base Wing (ABW) during a formal change of command ceremony at Hill Air Force Base at 9 a.m. Jan. 11.

Col. Kathryn L. Kolbe will assume command of the 75th ABW from Col. Sarah E. Zabel.

The 75 ABW commander is directly responsible for providing installation support for the Ogden Air Logistics Complex, two fighter wings, and 61 other associate units, totaling 24,000 active duty, civilian and contractor personnel. Additionally, the commander directly supports Air and Space Expeditionary Forces operations and has base support responsibility for the operation of the 1,500-square-mile Utah Test and Training Range.

Lt. Gen. Bruce A. Litchfield, Commander of the Air Force Sustainment Center (AFSC), will officiate the ceremony.

Kolbe currently serves at Hill AFB and is the Special Assistant to the AFSC commander. Previous to this assignment, she served as the 75th ABW vice commander.

The Air Force announced in a Nov. 30 news release that Zabel will assume duties as the Special Assistant to the AFSC commander. This assignment will also be at Hill AFB, which wasn't stated in the announcement.
