Commentary: DLA Aviation Ogden welcomes new commander

HILL AIR FORCE BASE -- Air Force Col. Deirdre Mahon, will assume command of the Defense Logistics Agency at Ogden from Army Col. James Kinkade during a change of command ceremony at the Hill Aerospace Museum, Hill Air Force Base at 10 a.m. June 29.

Mahon comes from the 460th Mission Support Group, 460th Space Wing, Buckley Air Force Base, Colo., where she provided administrative and personnel support to Air Force Space Command units and other units and agencies in the Front Range area. Mahon will serve as commander of DLA Aviation's site at Ogden. DLA Aviation is a field activity, headquartered in Richmond, Va., of the Defense Logistics Agency, and manages more than 1.4 million repair parts that support 1,400 major weapon systems.

Air Force Brig. Gen. Scott Jansson, commander of Defense Logistics Agency Aviation will officiate at the ceremony.

Defense Logistics Agency Aviation is the aviation demand and supply manager for Defense Logistics Agency with more than 3,300 civilian and military personnel in 19 locations across the United States. DLA Aviation supports more than 1,400 major weapon systems and is the U.S. military's integrated materiel manager for more than 1.4 million repair parts and operating supply items.
