On March 29, professional certifications conferred by the Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence were presented at Hill Air Force Base. Col. Don Hickman, acting commander for the 75th Air Base Wing, presented the Security Fundamentals Professional Certifications (SFPC) which demonstrate an understanding of the concepts and principles critical to protect Defense Department assets and promote professional understanding. This is a part of the Department of Defense's Security Professional Education Development (SPeD) program.

Three bases provided beta tests on the new certifications to their professional GS-080 security specialists: Hill Air Force Base, Wright-Patterson AFB and Joint Base Anacostia-Boling. The certificates, numbered and tracked by the DoD, require continual learning points to keep current.

Among those who received the certificates were:

Karl Abbott, OO-ALC/CSH

Kent Dahlquist, Aircraft Sustainment Directorate

Nathan Huven, 75th SFS/S5

David Marum, 75th ABW/IP

Benjamin Pugmire, Aircraft Sustainment Directorate

Les Sokolik, Aircraft Sustainment Directorate

Robert Swan, 309th Software Maintenance Group
