Civilian Health Promotion Services encourages everyone to remember to include a variety of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins and dairy on their plates every day. During March, CHPS will be offering several classes focused on healthy eating. Each class CHPS personnel will discuss a section of the healthy plate and a lucky few will receive an awesome giveaway -- the nutrition resource "Eat Right for Life" book.
"Healthy Cooking" -- Tuesday, March 27, from noon to 1 p.m. Healthy cooking doesn't mean that you have to become a gourmet chef or invest in expensive cookware. You can use basic cooking techniques to prepare food in healthy ways. Come learn the ins and outs of modifying recipes and how to cook healthier.
March is also Colorectal Cancer Awareness. A class will b held Wednesday, March 28, from noon to 1 p.m. Although a leading cause of cancer death for both men and women, if detected early, colorectal cancer can be more easily and successfully treated. Come learn more about screening and prevention of this deadly disease. There will be a special guest speaker from the Hill Medical Clinic.
