No parking is available near Hangar 204 for today’s ceremony so shuttle buses will transport attendees from The Landing and from the parking lot at the corner of Georgia Street and Wardleigh Road, beginning at 9 a.m. The ceremony will begin at 10 a.m.
At the ceremony presided over by Gen. Janet Wolfenbarger, commander of Air Force Materiel Command, multiple events will occur including:
- Col. Allan Day, 309th Maintenance Wing commander, and Maj. Gen. Andrew Busch, Ogden Air Logistics Center commander, will inactivate the 309th Maintenance Wing.
- Maj. Gen. Busch will relinquish command of the Ogden Air Logistics Center.
- Lt. Gen. Bruce Litchfield, commander of the Air Force Sustainment Center at Tinker AFB, Okla., will re-designate the Ogden Air Logistics Center as the Ogden Air Logistics Complex.
- Maj. Gen. (Select) Howard Baker will assume command of the Ogden Air Logistics Complex.
The re-designation as a complex is part of an effort by Hill AFB's parent organization, Air Force Materiel Command, to find efficiencies and save tax dollars by consolidating overhead and standardizing processes across the command.
Current missions conducted at Hill Air Force Base will continue, but without added layers of management. With the re-designation the complex will report to the Air Force Sustainment Center at Tinker AFB, Okla. The existing program offices at Hill AFB will be aligned to the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center at Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio.
The command-wide restructure is estimated to save $109 million annually.
