Report fires, and other emergencies quickly

When any fire is not reported quickly and properly, emergency response can be seriously delayed. The fire department depends on early emergency reporting.

Once an emergency is beyond its earliest stage, the risk to facilities, equipment and personnel can exceed fire department capabilities. Examples of things that need to be reported are smoking electrical equipment, trash can fires, fuel spills, chemical spills, mishaps with injuries and anytime you use a fire extinguisher.

If there is a fire or emergency in your building, please follow these steps:

Call out “fire-fire-fire” and start evacuating. Help your co-workers if they need assistance. Close the doors as you go and pull a fire department “PULL STATION” near you to activate the fire alarms. Proceed to your designated rally or meeting point, then call 911 and report your emergency. Stay there until released by the fire department and never re-enter the building or hazard area.

To report an emergency using a base phone, dial 911 to reach the Hill AFB fire dispatch center. When using a cellphone you will get a local 911 dispatch center. Say you are on Hill AFB and they will connect you. In either case, answer any questions they have and stay on the line until released by the dispatcher.

For general information or questions, call the nonemergency line at 801-777-3021 and for Security Forces, call 801-777-3058.
