UTA will alter base service routes during South, West and Roy gate closures

Utah Transit Authority will utilize the Southwest Gate to continue service to Hill AFB during the upcoming South and West Gate closures.

The alternate service is needed because beginning Sept. 22, the 75th Civil Engineer Group will install speed tables at the South, West and Roy Gates.

Hill AFB will construct speed tables in order to comply with Department of Defense antiterrorism standards. Speed tables are similar to speed bumps, but with sloping angular sides instead of a rounded profile.

Eddy Cumins, Regional General Manager at UTA, said this is a great time for Hill AFB employees to ride UTA to reduce delays and enhance traffic flow.

UTA buses easily have the capacity to carry more than 700 passengers to and from Hill AFB and the Clearfield FrontRunner station.

Bus route 665 will be on detour during the South Gate closure, Sept. 22  through Oct. 5. Bus route 664 will be on detour during the West Gate Closure, Oct. 6-19.

From Sept. 22 to Oct. 5, bus route 665 will enter the Southwest Gate and service stops on Community Lane and the Clinic prior to starting the normal route at 8th Street and South Gate Avenue.  A detour will be utilized for both morning (5:14 a.m.-7:44 a.m.) and afternoon (2:45 p.m. – 5:15 p.m.) service hours.

From Oct. 6-19, bus route 664 will enter the Southwest Gate, detour to H Avenue and Wardleigh Road, and then travel west on Wardleigh Road to service all existing stops. A detour will be utilized for both morning (5:14 a.m.-7:44 a.m.) and afternoon (2:45 p.m.-5:15 p.m.) service hours.

Buses will continue to depart Clearfield Station at the scheduled time during morning service. During afternoon hours, UTA buses will run every 15 minutes from approximately 2:45 p.m. to 5 p.m.
