On behalf of the 22,000 civilian and military employees of Hill Air Force Base and the Ogden Air Logistics Center, welcome to the 2012 Hill Air Force Base Open House and Air Show.
Our theme this Memorial Day weekend is "Warriors over the Wasatch: A Legacy of Valor", in honor of the sacrifices from our military men and women throughout history.
Team Hill's Airmen began supporting overseas contingency operations seven decades ago and we continue to support those operations today.
Most recently, our pilots, maintainers, logisticians, civil engineers, and acquisition managers supported Southwest Asia and Pacific operations.
In support of these deployments, the 75th Air Base Wing helped prepare over 2,500 Team Hill Airmen.
Their support ranges from pre-deployment processing lines to post-deployment retreats supported by our generous community partners.
During the last 18 months, our Airmen had the opportunity to witness several significant events, including the final combat flight over Iraq on December 18, 2011.
Team Hill Airmen were among the final few to exit on the last flight out of Iraq. We are extremely proud of their accomplishments and truly appreciate their sacrifices in defense of our great nation.
While you participate in the various festivities this weekend, I ask you to keep in mind all of our deployed Airmen-past, present, and future.
Our thanks go out to the many communities across the Wasatch Front for the support they've shown throughout the years to Hill Air Force Base and the men and women serving our great nation.
This weekend, we're showcasing our Air Force with aerial performances and aircraft static displays to help you-our neighbors-understand our mission and share in our accomplishments.
Culminating each day this weekend will be an aerial performance featuring the United States Air Force Air Demonstration Squadron, The Thunderbirds.
Team Hill is proud to host this Open House and Air Show and we hope you enjoy the many exciting events planned throughout the weekend.
Maj. Gen. Andrew Busch
Commander
