The Team Hill Junior Force Council hosted its 2011 Speaker Series at the Base Theater on April 27.
Darrin Wray, Falcon Hill's Enhanced Use Lease Program Manager, was the keynote speaker and provided valuable information on Falcon Hill.
"In 2001 Congress provided authority for the Department of Defense to take un-utilized property and lease it out to a developer in exchange for some type of return," said Wray. "Falcon Hill will be approximately 550 acres on the western edge of Hill Air Force Base, and the master development agreement was signed in Aug. 2008."
Wray said this project will bring value to the Air Force and Hill.
"Falcon Hill will replace an Air Force infrastructure using no federal tax dollars and it will have the ability to attract new programs and missions," said Wray. "It will also create a National Aerospace Research Park that builds synergy between the Air Force and private industry experts."
This massive project will take time to be completed and in the meantime, there will be lots of construction and traffic issues that Team Hill may experience.
"Traffic will be an issue, but we are trying to make the roads as accessible as possible and not too much trouble for Team Hill," said Wray.
With the completion of Falcon Hill, there will be many new assets on and near Hill.
Wray said future plans will include the completion of the four-story Falcon Hill building as well as other commercial buildings. There will also be off-base commercial buildings, a new Roy Gate and a light industrial area.
