Wingman's month of bowling

Plan a Wingman Activity and score some strikes at Hill's Bowling Center this month. Along with Wingman packages featuring discounts unique to each weekday, the Bowling Center will be offering prizes and coupons to Wingman participants.

Wingman packages are available Monday through Friday starting at noon. Reservations are required and can be made by calling the Bowling Center at (801) 777-6565.



Head out to bike races

The Child Development Center will be hosting this year's Annual Race Day on April 16 from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. The event will take place in the Child Development Center parking lot.

Other children's activities will include Bike Safety, a Trike-A-Thon, a motorcycle exhibit by Biker's Against Child Abuse and a fire department display.

Families get your groove on

Club Hill is hosting a family disco on Wednesday, April 14, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the ballroom. Aside from groovy dance moves, upbeat music and a DJ, the disco will also feature kid-friendly food and goody bags.

Your chance to be Hill Idol

Club Hill invites everyone age 18 and older to participate in Hill Idol, a singing competition based on the popular TV show "American Idol."

Round One begins April 23 at 5:30 p.m., Round Two on April 30 at 5:30 p.m., and Round Three follows on May 7 at 5:30 p.m. The audience will judge each participant and select two finalists from each round who will then go on to compete in the finals on May 14 at 5:30 p.m. A panel of judges -- not including Simon Cowell -- will judge the six finalists and the winner will receive $200.

5K/1 Mile Awareness Run

Friday, April 9, beginning at 7 a.m. at the Warrior Fitness Center, the Sexual Assault Response Coordinator office will be hosting a 5K/1 Mile Awareness Run. Attendees are invited to walk or run in support of spreading awareness about sexual assault.

No registration is required and the first 100 participants will receive a free SARC T-shirt. Please contact the SARC at (801) 777-1985 for more information.



South Gate Center hours

Beginning April 17, the hours of operation for the South Gate Visitor's Center will change.

The new hours will be Monday through Friday from 5 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

UFC event onscreen at Club

The first open-air event in UFC history will be showing live Saturday, April 10, at Club Hill. The event, held in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, will feature two championship fights: World Middleweight Championship and World Lightweight Championship. There will also be a Welterweight Bout.

Food and drink specials will begin at 6 p.m. and the event, which is free, will begin at 8 p.m. The viewing is open to everyone and members can reserve tables by calling Club Hill at (801) 777-3841.



Base-level chess tournament

Learn to play like Bobby Fischer in the Air Force Chess Program's base level tournament Saturday, April 10, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Youth Center.

Anyone with access to the base is invited to participate and the cost is free. Competitors will be divided into three categories and prizes will be awarded to the winners.

Learn to budget

The Airman and Family Readiness Center will be hosting a Basic Budgeting Techniques class on April 15 from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. The class will help beginning budgeters get organized, explore different budgeting techniques, and more.

Fire suppression outage

A fire suppression outage has been approved beginnning Monday, April 12, through April 16 in order to relocate lower fire hydrants and bollards.

The outage will begin at 7 a.m. and last approximately eight hours each day. Facilities affected will be: Buildings 216, 220, 231 and 5134. The following additional fire hydrants will also be affected: 2-6, 2-9, and 2-15, which are located along the flight line.
