Wardleigh Road project update issued

The 75th Civil Engineer Squadron has a paving project on Wardleigh Road (Chenault to Alabama).

Phase 1 of this effort is scheduled Aug. 1 through Aug. 20. Starting approximately Aug. 1, Wardleigh Road (Chenault to Alabama) will be partially closed on the north side of the road. Traffic will be reduced to one lane each way. Accessibility will be maintained. Crosswalks will be maintained as safely allowed around construction equipment. The project schedule is as weather permits.

Recommended alternate route for motorists is Arsenal to 6th Street to access most buildings. Arsenal is the small road from "M" Avenue (near the West Gate) to 6th Street (near the Southwest Gate).

'D' and 'E' Avenues, Weiner Street, Canberra paving projects under way

The 75th Civil Engineer Squadron will be conducting a paving project on "D" Avenue, Weiner Street (8th Street), "E" Avenue, and Canberra Road.

"D" Avenue will be closed beginning approximately Monday, July 26 through Thursday, July 29.

"E" Avenue northbound will be closed beginning approximately Monday, July 26, through Wednesday, July 28.

Canberra Road will be closed beginning approximately Wednesday, July 28, through July 30.

Weiner Street will be closed approximately Aug. 2 through Aug. 3.

The intersections of "D" Avenue with Wardleigh Road, 6th Street, and Balmer will remain open during construction. The intersections of "E" Avenue with Wardleigh Road and 6th Street will remain open during construction.

All construction efforts are weather permitting.

Recommended alternate travel routes are Wardleigh Road or else 6th Street to southbound "E" Avenue, "F" Avenue, or Southgate Avenue for through traffic. Most buildings can be accessed from these roads via 6th Street.

Clarification and correction

In an article on the history of the 34th Fighter Squadron, the Hilltop Times edition of July 15 presented some information which needs clarification and correction. The 34th FS was the first combat operational non-training designated fighter squadron to get the F-16.

A historical photo accompanying the article showed Ram members at Korat RTAFB, Thailand, 1969. The photo caption gave an incorrect approximation date and gave no location for where the photo was taken.



Efforts to freecycle office furniture at Hill

In coordination with continued efforts to clean up and restore usable space it has been coordinated with the Defense Reutilization and Marketing Office to allow the turn-in of specific office furniture items WITHOUT the normal required paperwork.

Please remember that it is imperative that no paperwork be left behind in desks, shelving and cabinets, when delivering them to DRMO.

On Thursday, July 22, DRMO will be accepting both serviceable and unserviceable cabinets and shelving.

On Aug. 5, DRMO will be accepting both serviceable and unserviceable desks.

On Aug. 19, DRMO will be accepting both serviceable and unserviceable chairs.

Wobble Trap League high scorers

The Hill Rod and Gun Club sponsored a Wobble trap league from June to July. Twelve gun club members competed in the 300 target event. Andrew Chudy was high overall shooter with a score of 286/300. Dart Davis, runner up posted a score of 284/300. The overall high scoring three-man team members were Andrew Chudy, Gary Flint and Merv Smith.

Detour due to gas line work on Foulois Road

Questar Gas Co. has a gas line replacement project that will affect Foulois Road near Buildings 782 and 783 requiring excavation and repair of asphalt.

Continuing through Aug. 20, a bypass route will be in place as construction activities begin on Foulois Road.

The bypass route will be in effect throughout the duration of the construction project and will consist of a clearly marked graded dirt road.

Drivers using the bypass route are cautioned to use reduced speeds of 10 mph.

Project schedules are weather permitting.

The 75th Civil Engineer Squadron has a paving project on Wardleigh Road ("M" Avenue to "H" Avenue).

The Phase 1 of this effort is scheduled to begin Sunday, Aug. 1 through Aug. 30. Starting approximately Aug. 1, Wardleigh Road ("M" Avenue to "H" Avenue) will be partially closed for extensive milling of the full width of the road. Traffic will be reduced to one lane each way. Accessibility will be maintained. Crosswalks will be maintained as safely allowed around construction equipment. The project schedule is subject to weather permitting.

Recommended alternate route is Arsenal to 6th Street to access most buildings. Arsenal is the small road from "M" Avenue (near the West Gate) to 6th Street (near the Southwest Gate).

Free backpacks for military kids

Hill's IB Express store will be hosting "Operation: Backpack" on Aug. 3 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The store will be handing out free backpacks to the children of military families, including some school supplies, while supplies last. The IB Express store is located in Building 2740 on "F" Avenue on base. All children must be accompanied by a parent or care provider.

LOA social on Aug. 5

The Wasatch Chapter of the Logistics Officers Association will be hosting a membership drive and social event on Thursday, Aug. 5, 3:30 p.m. at Club Hill. Military and civilian logisticians are encouraged to attend and bring a guest. Free food will be available.

The LOA provides opportunities to network, attend professional conferences, and tour local industries while also providing scholarship funds and supporting the Fisher House and the Mountain Ridge Assisted Living Facility.
