Team Hill Airman to compete in ‘Final Battle’

HILL AIR FORCE BASE, Utah — Six Team Hill Airmen competed in an Air Force Alpha Warrior regional competition at the Hess Fitness Center here Sept. 30.

The first place finisher from the Mountain Region will go to San Antonio in November to compete in the ‘Final Battle’ against other regional winners from around the Air Force. In addition to regional winners, the top 10 male and female finishers will also go to San Antonio.

Team Hill members Marcus Hyatt, Nathaniel Kilian, AJ Mangoba, Gilmer Martinez, Brandon Novenario, and Mario Rios competed in the Mountain Region. Installations eligible to compete in the Mountain Region were Hill AFB; Fairchild AFB, Washington; and Mountain Home AFB, Idaho.

Competitors were timed by Aurora Koftinow and Samantha Stockwell, both 75th Force Support Squadron, as they made their way through 11 obstacles on an Alpha Warrior Battle Rig. Hill AFB results were as follow:

1st – AF Reserve Capt. Mario Rios, Air Force Sustainment Center, OL- Hill, 1:08:87

2nd – Staff Sgt. AJ Mangoba, 388th Maintenance Squadron, 1:22:25

3rd – Master Sgt. Marcus Hyatt, 75th Medical Group, 3:04:42

As the Mountain Region winner, Rios will go to San Antonio to compete Nov. 11. The top 10 overall finishers will be announced later this month once all regionals are complete.
