WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio — Air Force Materiel Command officials announced May 2 that its executive director, Steve Butler, will retire June 30 after 35 years of service. He will be replaced by Michael Gill, currently executive director of the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center. Patsy Reeves, currently AFMC’s director of contracting, will become AFLCMC’s executive director.
WRIGHT-PATTERSON AFB, Ohio — Air Force Materiel Command leaders are pledging their support for a new money-saving Air Force initiative dubbed Every Dollar Counts.
In the wake of sequestration and reduced budgets, the initiative calls on Airmen to submit their money-saving ideas as part of a new culture of savings.
“This is an opportunity to respond to a tough situation with creative, lasting solutions,” said Gen. Janet Wolfenbarger, AFMC commander.
WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio — As a result of sequestration taking effect on March 1, the Air Force is expected to absorb more than $12 billion in reductions this fiscal year while simultaneously working to mitigate an overseas contingency operations funding shortfall and operating under a highly restrictive continuing resolution.
Air Force Materiel Command convened a task force this week to implement reductions and analyze mission impacts to the command based on guidance received from Headquarters Air Force, according to AFMC officials.

The Ogden Air Logistics Center was re-designated a complex and became part of the Air Force Sustainment Center during a ceremony at Hill AFB on July 12.
The re-designation as an air logistics complex and consolidation with the AFSC was part of an AFMC effort that reduced the command's number of centers from 12 to five. By consolidating overhead, the command planned to improve the way it accomplished its mission, ultimately providing better support to the warfighter. The restructure standardized processes for an estimated savings of $109 million annually.

WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio -- Air Force officials announced April 12, that Chief Master Sgt. Michael J. Warner will become Air Force Materiel Command's new command chief.
Warner comes to AFMC from Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska, where he has served as 11th Air Force command chief master sergeant and senior enlisted leader of the Alaskan Command, Alaskan NORAD Region and Joint Task Force-Alaska since May 2010. He becomes the ninth AFMC command chief since the command was activated in 1992.

Air Force officials announced the confirmation of Lt. Gen. Janet C. Wolfenbarger to the rank of general with assignment to the position of AFMC commander, making her the Air Force's first female four-star general.
Officials also announced the Senate confirmation of AFMC Vice Commander Lt. Gen. C.D. Moore II for appointment as commander of the new Air Force Life Cycle Management Center, to be located at Wright-Patterson.
