Who is your Key Spouse?

Being a spouse in the military -- newly married or celebrating a 20th anniversary -- can be a difficult job at times. While husbands and wives are off to defend the country on the front line, spouses are left to defend the home front. No matter how tough it gets, though, spouses should know that their Key Spouse representatives have got their back.

Hill Field Elementary School got some welcome news recently when in late June the Department of Defense announced it had approved an application by the school for approximately $600,000 in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) funds in the form of a grant.

Team Hill's 'S-Team' stands tall for any challenge

Not too long ago, I found myself thinking about the significant roles both the operations and support functions of an organization have on the organization's overall mission success. Having served 24 years in the active duty Army and now several years as a federal civilian employee, I've always viewed everyone in my chain of command as an equally essential part of the team.

Efforts to 'freecycle' office furniture at Hill

"Freecycling" is a term that describes the recycling of an unwanted item by offering it to someone else for free. Team Hill has its own business version of "freecycling," one of the trendier attempts in these fiscally tighter times.

In coordination with continued efforts to clean up and restore usable space it has been coordinated with the DLA Disposition Services (previously DMRO) to allow the turn-in of specific office furniture items WITHOUT the normal required paperwork.

Hill club hosts first airsoft event

On July 31 the Hill Airsoft and Paintball Club will host the very first airsoft tournament on base. The competition will take place at the Woodsball Field, which is located behind the BORTA on Perimeter Road.

Registration will begin at 2 p.m. and the event will start at 4 p.m. Cost is free and participants are eligible to win prizes in a raffle. Participants must bring their own equipment and must adhere to the safety and tournament rules provided by the club.

July 30 women only motorcycle course

Allan Woods, Installation motorcycle safety chief, has scheduled a Women Only Experienced Rider Course (ERC) on Friday, July 30. Learn emergency maneuvers on a controlled range, rather than on a busy street.

This is a very good course especially for the rider with a lot of experience. Riders do tend to pick up bad habits over the years and this course will help you to identify and eliminate those on the learning range instead of on the road.
